About the Tree Decision in Easy Language

The tree decision is a popular decision in Berlin.

All German citizens of Berlin can vote on a proposal.

The tree decision allows people to vote for a law.

It is called the Climate Adaptation Act.

This means that the world’s climate is changing.

Therefore, we humans now have to do many things differently.

So we have to adapt to the climate.
There are some changes in our law.

Anyone in Berlin can take part in the tree referendum in their free time. Do you want to help?

There is more about this in difficult language here .

The law states:
The government of Berlin must better protect the trees in the city.

And the government needs to plant more trees.

Especially where poor people live.

And where few trees grow now.

The law also states:
The government must protect the people of Berlin from the heat.
And remove a lot of concrete and asphalt.

This allows rain to seep away better.

The Baum-Entscheid team wrote the law in their spare time.

Now the Baum-Entscheid team is telling everyone in Berlin.

That's why the team created this page.

Anyone who thinks the law is good can soon sign a list.

If lots of people sign, the law will be put to the vote.

In 2026, everyone in Berlin will be able to say yes or no to the law.
